Case in point with Natalie Casey

By Allison Jacobs

The new art gallery outside the cafeteria is finally REALLY open. The founder answers questions.

How did you get the idea?

I noticed there was an empty space next to the school store that wasn’t being used. I’m an art student so immediately I thought this space could be utilized...

...for something art related so I ran the idea by my art teachers and they loved it.

Are you pleased with the way the gallery is going?Yes. It’s come a very long way and a ton of work went into it. We had to clean it out and paint everything and Keene Carpet is donating a brand new floor that will be put in soon. It’s a gorgeous vinyl floor that looks like hard wood.

Do you worry about students respecting the artwork? There are always going to be people who just don’t understand the time and commitment that it takes to make pieces. We’re hoping that the gallery is going to change that for some people. We want them to really be impressed and maybe give them a new outlook and of course there will be art students monitoring the gallery.

When will art be rotated? We plan on rotating the art every two months or so.
