Battle for 600

By Jaime Gweshe

Not only is the boys baseball team looking to make strides for themselves this season, they are working on building a milestone for long-time varsity baseball coach Mr. Curtin...

With 2 games and a tournament to go in 2010, the team is 3 wins away from bringing Coach Curtin to 600 career coaching wins.

“It is very doable and we should easily be able to get it,” Captain Brian Tait said at the start of the season, when the coach was still 12 wins away.

Last baseball season the boys were headed for states, a feat that was cut short on a North Andover walk-off homer. This year’s team wants to build on last year’s success and go further in the tournament, meanwhile bringing Mr. Curtain to the 600 mark. No coach in Burlington High School sports history has ever reached such a milestone.

Captains: Alexander Castelluccio and Brian Tait

Captain’s Shout-out: Brian Tait says: “The team’s success will determine on how we act as a team. One loss can cause teams to get into a slump and lose two then three then four. But we can not have that happen. We need to put every game in the past and build off everything positive.”
